Exploring: For those who like to explore the area there are a whole range of attractions. Lagos is the third largest town in the Algarve and boasts a wonderful marina coupled with a cosmopolitan atmosphere, among the cobbled streets populated by excellent restaurants, boutiques and local crafts. Its history dates back to the invasion by the Moors, and this is evident by many of the buildings and historic places to visit, whilst the chapel of St.Antonio is a must visit. Cape St. Vincent: To the far west lies Cape Vincent where the navigator Henry set sail to explore the world, whilst Sagres offers incredible views with the waves pounding the rocks below, the sight of fishermen standing in the rock crevices casting their long lines into the sea below is quite breathtaking. The lighthouse of Sagres is a central theme to the landscape, and this whole area offers wonderful views of the sun setting on the day. Monchique: Go in land to the mountains and you discover the lovely town of Monchique, with its Roman influences, famous for its spa waters and 17th century buildings, it has on certain days a large market just below the town centre. Be sure to seek out the local “Chicken piri piri Beach Days: Apart from the magnificent Praia Burgau there are many other lovely beaches to explore along the coast line including the must visit to Salema, with its lovely restaurants overlooking the sea.

Figueri sits between Burgau and Salema and it is one for those who like a very quiet time when sunbathing. Walking: There are many beautiful walks available both along the cliffs and inland. The walk to Praia de Luz is one that provides wonderful views and a chance to visit the front at Luz. Apart from the nature reserve which lies east of Lagos towards Portimao there are plenty of opportunities to observe a wide variety of bird life in and around Burgau.

Golf: The Algarve is famous for its golf courses and in this respect Burgau lies close to several of them.

Boa Vista (10 mins) :A lovely course providing beautiful views of the surrounding coast and the Monchique hills, built in 2002 it offers a real challenge to golfers of all standards.

Parque de Florista (10mins): This is a parkland course with fine views of the surrounding countryside and a wonderful par 3 at the 15th hole, a golfers dream.

Pennina (30mins): Built by Henry Cotton this is a championship course, with its long holes and water hazards, it offers a real challenge. There are of course many other beautiful and challenging courses to suit all levels of golfing ability.
